Inês Nascimento Rodrigues


Biography

Inês Nascimento Rodrigues is a researcher at the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra in the research line 'Europe and the Global South: heritage and dialogues'. She is currently a hired PhD researcher under the project "GHOST. The Afterlives of Contract and Enslavement: Narratives on Indentured Labour between Cape Verde and São Tomé and Príncipe', a project funded by a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Global Fellowship (MSCA) (2024-2027). she was awarded funding in the fifth edition of the Individual Call for Scientific Employment Stimulus (CEEC) from the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, FCT (2023-2029). Between 2017 and 2023, she carried out her post-doctoral research in the project 'CROME - Crossed Memories, Politics of Silence: the colonial and liberation wars in post-colonial times', coordinated by Miguel Cardina and funded by the European Research Council. She has a PhD in Postcolonialisms and Global Citizenship, having written a study on the 'Batepá Massacre' in São Tomé and Príncipe, which won the 11th edition of the CES Prize for Young Portuguese-Speaking Social Scientists. She was a member of the CES Trauma Observatory coordination team between 2022 and 2024. Her current research interests focus on memory studies, post-colonial theories and debates on the representation of colonial and liberation wars, as well as the cultural history of forced labour. She is a reviews editor and member of the Editorial Board of the journal Práticas da História. Journal on Theory, Historiography and Uses of the Past (NOVA-FCSH) and Cadernos de Estudos Africanos (CEI-Iscte), as well as on the Editorial Board of e-cadernos CES (CES).
