Material and immaterial barriers in educational spaces

About

This workshop starts from a concern that arose in a delicate period: a child entering an educational institution and the process of adaptation to this new reality.

How are the rules for this adaptation defined in a post-pandemic world? Who defines them? Does the family "suffering" during this period have to happen, and in a certain way? Are the educational spaces (nurseries, kindergartens, schools) closed spaces, isolated from the community? What is the role of the children and young people who attend them in the transformation of the "school space"?

We will share experiences as parents, education professionals and researchers, based on personal experiences, on the results of two research projects that look at the intervention and transformation of schools in a collaborative and integrated way in the community and on a pedagogical model that favours the formation of networks between the educational space, families and the community and the full inclusion of children.

With this workshop, we intend to debate the place of the school, and educational spaces, and of people, explore other approaches to this place, and seek another understanding of the school space as a historical space and a space of stories.
