Health through the eyes of Traditional Medicine
July 1 to August 30, 2024
North|South Library Corridor (Display) | CES-Alta
According to the WHO (World Health Organisation), Traditional Medicine has a long history, beginning with ancestry and rooted in tradition. In many cultures, these medicinal practises are passed down from generation to generation and in many cases are the first options for diagnosing and treating physical and mental illnesses. Many treatments involve the use of medicinal plants, but they can also involve other practises (prayers, massages, rituals, etc.).
Nowadays, Traditional Medicine is still criticised, but it plays a fundamental role in many societies, even complementing conventional medicine. Despite the scepticism surrounding these practises, the WHO recognises their importance and has encouraged integration and collaboration between the two medicinal systems.
