“It's all in your head”: silencing the voices of people with mental health issues
Cláudia Maria Filgueiras Penido (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais)
November 25, 2025, 15h00
Room 2, CES | Alta
The seminar will start with information about the high mortality rate among people with mental disorders, due to preventable causes, in Brazil, to discuss possibilities for an analytical understanding of this phenomenon.
It will discuss the relevance of stigma as an explanatory element, seeking a conceptual framework that brings together concepts such as legibility and epistemic injustice, in the search for operational tools that allow for in-depth reflection on statistical data and subjective experiences.
