Bibliographic and Photographic Exhibition

Forest Pedagogy. Riches and Resistances of the Amazon – Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the National Council of Traditional Extractive Populations - CNS

October 16 to 31, 2025

North|South Library Display, CES | Alta > Opening: 23 October, 14h00

With the intention of motivating new students to the CES Doctoral Programmes (2025/2026), the hosting institution (CES) and the North|South Library (CES), in partnership with student Fátima Cristina da Silva from the doctoral programme “Territory, Risks and Public Policies” (CES/IIIUC), are holding a bibliographic and photographic exhibition on the subject of her doctoral thesis, “Forest Pedagogy. Riches and Resistance in the Amazon”.

October marks the 40th anniversary of the National Council of Traditional Extractive Populations (CNS), and there was a need to give it some commemorative prominence.

Through this exhibition, visitors will not only have the opportunity to “travel” to the Amazon, but also, through the photographs on display, sounds, and other interactive materials, to discover and learn about the knowledge of the forest peoples.

The exhibition will open on 23 October, from 14:00 to 16:00, next to the library display, and will be presented by Fátima Cristina da Silva, who will share some of her experiences and journey as a CES doctoral programme student and describe the exhibition.
