Biography

Cíntia Fachada is a PhD candidate in Sociology at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Coimbra. She has a PhD Fellowship from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology with the project entitled "Beyond the flames: A sociological approach to extreme events in Portugal". Fachada earned her Sociology degree and her master's at the same University. She works at the Risk Observatory (OSIRIS) at the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra since 2022. She also earned her degree in Sociology at the same University. Her master's thesis focused on the role of social capital in wildfire resilience, https://hdl.handle.net/10316/111675. Her research topics are risk, extreme events, rural communities, social networks and citizenship.
